NFL Week 8 Picks

Week 8 is creeping up on us, and it’s time for Week 8 Picks.  Happy Halloween everyone!!!  Let’s get started.

Lock Of The Week

Jets, 27, Raiders, 20

The newly rebuilt Jets will end the Raiders sudden streak, and start them off on a bad angle.

Despite Oakland’s late reign, but all the new Jets will work together to confidently defeat the Jets.  Darrelle Revis won’t let Amari Cooper touch a finger on him, and Michael Crabtree will have Antonio Cromartie on his own guard.  And Latavius Murray won’t touch a finger on Sheldon Richardson either. Muhammad Wilkerson will even go after new and improved Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. So, by the time all the defense is settled in, only tight ends Clive Walford and Mychal Rivera left, and they even have Buster Skrine on them.

The Jets offense should also perform. Even if the Raiders have Justin Tuck, Aldon Smith and Khalil Mack guarding the top three running backs (Ivory, Powell, Stacy) or blitzing on Ryan Fitzpatrick, two words. Stevan Ridley. Ridley, the former Patriot has been on PUP to start the season as he recovers from last year’s ACL and MCL tear. He was activated from the PUP list on Friday, and is now probable to play. They’ll also have the receiving game. Even if Charles Woodson is guarding Brandon Marshall, the Raiders don’t have any really good corner, leaving opportunity for backup receivers Eric Decker and Jeremy Kerley, plus maybe tight end Jeff Cumberland and receivers Chris Owusu and Devin Smith. So, the Jets still have plenty of weapons while stopping the Raiders’, making this a clear lock match-up.

Lock Notables: Texans over Titans, Rams over 49ers

Upset Of The Week

Cowboys, 27, Seahawks, 13

In Dez Bryant’s return, he will push to take down the feast or famine Seahawks.

Dez Bryant could be back for this game, and that would revamp Dallas’ health and offense. He may be guarded by Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, but he can eventually work around it. From watching Dez in the past, I’ll bet he’ll overcome it. Jason Witten will also be guarded, by Earl Thomas. But backup tigt end Gavin Escobar and backup receivers Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley will have a big opportunity to score as well, and they’re at least somewhat useful. In the running game, Joseph Randle is out, so Darren McFadden will surely be guarded by Bobby Wagner, but Christine Michael will have a wide open opportunity, as long as Michael Bennett focuses on sacking easy target Matt Cassel. If he runs it to Michael successfully a bunch, he won’t have to worry about sacks.

Also, despite the Seahawks defense being amazing, the Seahawks offense is practically empty besides a couple key players, doesn’t have a great starting wideout, and facing an also tough Cowboys D? No way will they have a chance. Morris Claiborne will be on Jimmy Graham, while Brandon Carr and Barry Church, plus J.J. Wilcox take Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett and Jermaine Kearse, leaving only Ricardo Lockette, Paul Richardson and Chris Matthews. And Sean Lee will take down Marshawn Lynch, while Fred Jackson has Rolando McClain on him. Thomas Rawls will even have Greg Hardy. GREG HARDY? Who does that leave? Nobody. Expect low scoring, maybe one touchdown and possibly a couple field goals when monster stat players that don’t really score, at least this year, (AKA Jimmy Graham), come close. So Dallas has got this one in the books. All you bookies out there, I’ll prove you wrong.
